Description

Pink Anemones

Anemones are soft, elegant, and effortlessly beautiful flowers that are equally at home in formal celebrations and relaxed, romantic gatherings. Their large, delicate petals form a graceful, cup-shaped bloom around a distinctive dark center, creating a striking contrast that instantly catches the eye.

Light and airy yet undeniably luxurious, Anemones bring texture, dimension, and soft, graceful lines to almost any floral design. They make a beautiful statement flower when you want the bloom to take center stage, yet work just as beautifully as a secondary flower, blending effortlessly with roses, ranunculus, delphinium, and virtually every other flower in your arrangement.

And while Anemones are stunning when paired with other blooms, they are equally captivating on their own. A simple collection of Anemones can create an effortless yet sophisticated centerpiece that looks as though it came straight from a flower-filled garden.

Traditionally loved for classic, elegant, and formal designs, Anemones are wonderfully versatile. They transition just as beautifully into wildflower, farm, barn, garden, and rustic-inspired arrangements—making this enchanting flower a timeless favorite for almost any floral style.

FLOWER FACTS:

Color: Pink with a striking black center.

Average Vase Life: 5-7 days with proper care.

Days to Fully Open: 1-2 days after hydration

Blooms per Stem: 1

Average Bloom Size: 2-3 inches

Stem Length: 8-16 inches

Bunch Size: 10 stems/bunch

PETAL POINTERS:

Budget Rating: $$ (Budget Moderate)

Floral Fuss Factor:  Moderate

Blossom Blues: Moderate.  Anemone blooms are fairly delicate and not all stems in a bunch will be usable. Some will not open properly, some will not last as long as others, stems will break (this is especially true if you are trying to insert the stems into flower foam).   This is perfectly normal and florists expect this when placing orders.  Florists generally assume about 1/3 of each bunch may not open properly or not perform well enough for an event and adjust the number of stems they order to account for the stems that will not perform.  Again, this is the nature of this flower type, and should be understood when working with anemones.  If purchasing anemones, order at least 1/3 more stems than you think you will be using to ensure you have enough to cover your event needs.

Recommended Hydration Bucket: Because these are a more delicate focal flower, we recommend you place your anemones in glass vases - either large mason jars, or 8” high cylinder vases.  Do not overcrowd.  Depending on the diameter of your vase, we recommend only 1 - 2 bunches of anemones per vase.  If you need to use a bucket, we recommend using a small,1 - 2 gallon paint bucket, and again do not overcrowd.  Overcrowding may cause the petals to bruise or not fully open.

Once they begin blooming, you may need to spread them out into additional buckets; always leave room to bloom.

Fragrance: Light to none

Symbolism: Anemones symbolize anticipation, sincerity, purity, and charm.

IMPORTANT INFO:

Your flowers may arrive looking a little tired or thirsty after their journey. This is completely normal — think of it like how you’d feel after a long international flight, wedged into the middle seat the whole way: a little rumpled and definitely not at your freshest. Your flowers feel the same way. A fresh trim on the stems, a good drink of water, and some time to hydrate (flower relaxation time) will help them perk up quickly.

Flower colors may vary slightly due to natural growing conditions and differences in screen display settings. We always strive to ship the exact product you order. However, occasionally, due to circumstances beyond our control - weather conditions, market fluctuations, or an increase in weekly demand - substitutions may be necessary. We will contact you as soon as we are aware of this to discuss available options or substitutions.

RECOMMENDED SUBSTITUTIONS:

Sometimes flowers have a mind of their own — seasons shift, blooms vary, and Mother Nature likes to keep things interesting. These flowers share a similar look, feel, or design style and make beautiful alternatives.

Ranunculus, Lisianthus, Poppies, Tulips, Scabiosa, Cosmos

COMPLEMENTARY PAIRINGS:

Think of these as the floral version of great dinner guests — they naturally get along and bring out the best in each other.

Roses, Ranunculus, Delphinium, Stock, Hydrangeas, Tulips, Sweet Pea

Care Instructions

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Your fresh anemones will arrive in a protective shipping box to ensure they reach you in excellent condition. Don't be alarmed if the blooms appear partially closed or slightly droopy—this is completely normal. With a little care, they'll quickly perk up and begin to open.

 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns. Leave the protective sleeves around the blooms for the first 4 hours of hydration. This helps support the delicate, hollow stems as they rehydrate.
  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey. Again, don’t worry if they appear sleepy or thirsty—they will perk up beautifully with proper care.

 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten the life of flowers.
  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, then add flower food if available.  If using flower food, ensure you follow the package instructions and mix the correct ratio of food to water.  If you can not dose the water correctly, we recommend NOT using any flower food at all.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Anemones do not have many leaves.  Most are located just below the bloom.  If there are any lower leaves, remove them, especially any that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacterial growth.
  • Cut Stems Correctly: Using clean, sharp floral shears, trim ½–1 inch from the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle.
  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems immediately into the prepared water, ensuring there is enough space in each container for the flowers to bloom properly. Be sure each container has enough space so the flowers aren't crowded.

 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: After the first 4-hour hydration period, remove protective packaging.
  • Re-cut and Space: Re-cut each stem about ¼ inch. Cut and place them in your prepared buckets. Transfer the flowers back into their clean buckets, giving them plenty of room to continue opening. We recommend allowing your anemones to hydrate at least 24 hours before arranging
  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.
  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: Once fully hydrated, your anemones are ready to arrange. Their crisp white petals and dramatic dark centers make them perfect for bouquets, centerpieces, arches, and floral installations.
  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems before putting them back in water and maintain water levels.
  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Petal Pointers:

Anemones tend to vary in color from bloom to bloom; this is a naturally occurring phenomenon. White and Blush Anemones may retain various hues of pink, green, or lavender throughout the bloom cycle.

Anemones are naturally phototropic, meaning their stems will gently bend and grow toward a light source.

Because anemones have a relatively short vase life compared to many other cut flowers, they perform best when arranged in a vase with a continuous water source rather than floral foam. This allows them to stay well-hydrated and looking their freshest throughout your event.

With proper care, your fresh anemones will provide 5–7 days of beautiful blooms, making them a stunning addition to weddings, events, and everyday arrangements.

Always keep flower buds above the rim of the bucket or vase to prevent bruising and damage to delicate blooms.

Warm environments encourage flowers to open more quickly, while cooler temperatures help slow the blooming process. Adjust storage conditions as needed, but always avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat. After arranging, use a floral finishing spray to help keep blooms fresh and extend their longevity.

Anemone Care instructions:

  • Open box and cut strapping to remove flowers
  • Anemones are shipped in grower's bunches, each bunch containing 10 stems per bunch.
  • Stem Length approx 8 - 10 inches
  • Each Anemone stem has 1 bloom -  2 - 3 1/2 inches in diameter, on average.
  • White Anemones may retain some soft pink, lavender or even green hues throughout the bloom.  This is natural, and color will soften as the flower opens and ages.
  • Anemone flowers are soft and delicate.  Handle gently and keep in a cool location.  Store your anemones away from direct sunlight, heat sources and/or drafts.
  • Remove any green foliage that will fall below the water line from the bottom of the stem.
  • Cut approximately 1/2 to 1 inch off the bottom of each stem and immediately place in fresh, clean water.
  • Place flowers in fresh, cool water out of direct sunlight.  Use of Floral food is recommended.  Let Anemones hydrate for at least an hour before arranging, 24 hours is recommended.
  • Anemones can be a phototropic flower - meaning the stems may bend toward a light source and blooms may close at night.  This is normal.  If you wish your stems to remain upright, place a light source directly above your flowers, or rotate vase so that all sides receive the same amount of light.
