Red Hanging Amaranthus

Red Hanging Amaranthus isn't just a flower—it's floral theater! Its dramatic, cascading strands create a breathtaking waterfall of rich crimson, adding movement, texture, and unforgettable style to every arrangement. Whether gracefully draped through bouquets, flowing from centerpieces, or woven into luxurious floral arrangements, this showstopping bloom brings bold color and effortless elegance to every design. Perfect for weddings, holiday décor, and statement pieces, Red Hanging Amaranthus transforms ordinary arrangements into unforgettable works of art that leave everyone saying, "Bellissimo!”

The Good: Amaranthus brings beautiful draping movement to bouquets and centerpieces, with cascading stems that spill gracefully over the edges. Its rich texture and flowing movement make it a wonderful accent element. And the best part? A little goes a long way! Just a few stems can add plenty of visual interest and drama to a design.

The Bad: The foliage on Amaranthus can be a little too coarse and unattractive for most designs, so we typically snip it off and use the beautiful hanging blooms as the star. The stems can also be large and heavy, and Amaranthus doesn’t have the longest vase life. Stem length can vary, too, so you may find yourself trimming the cascading portion to achieve the perfect look—which isn’t necessarily a bad thing! Depending on availability, your Amaranthus may arrive a little smaller or larger than pictured, but it will still deliver that gorgeous, flowing touch that makes this flower so special.

RECOMMENDED SHIPPING AND DELIVERY INFO:

IMPORTANT INFO:

Your flowers may arrive looking a little tired or thirsty after their journey. This is completely normal — think of it like how you’d feel after a long international flight, wedged into the middle seat the whole way: a little rumpled and definitely not at your freshest. Your flowers feel the same way. A fresh trim on the stems, a good drink of water, and some time to hydrate (flower relaxation time) will help them perk up quickly.

Please note that flower colors may vary slightly due to natural growing conditions and differences in screen display settings. We always strive to ship the exact product you order. However, occasionally, due to circumstances beyond our control - weather conditions, market fluctuations, or an increase in weekly demand - substitutions may be necessary. We will contact you, if possible, as soon as we are made aware of this to discuss available options or substitutions.

RECOMMENDED SUBSTITUTIONS:

Sometimes flowers have a mind of their own — seasons shift, blooms vary, and Mother Nature likes to keep things interesting. These flowers share a similar look, feel, or design style and make beautiful alternatives.

Acceptable Subs: Amaranthus is difficult to substitute because it's very unusual in appearance. We would pick a textured element that matches your overall vibe and palette.

Celosia, Hanging Ivy, Trailing Jasmine, Fern, Rumex

COMPLEMENTARY PAIRINGS:

Think of these as the floral version of great dinner guests — they naturally get along and bring out the best in each other.

Roses, Garden Roses, Dahlias, Sunflowers, Hydrangeas, Delphinium, Snapdragons, Anthurium, Calla Lilies, Oriental or Asiatic Lilies, Scabiosa, Stock.

60cm in Length

IMPORTANT INFO:

Your flowers may arrive looking a bit tired or thirsty. This is completely normal after their journey (just think how you feel after a long international flight - not too fresh, right?  Same for your flowers). A fresh cut to their stems and a good drink of water will bring them back to life quickly.  Check out the Flower Care tab for further instructions on how to best care for your flowers.

Please note, color variations may occur due to nature’s unpredictability and differences in screen settings.

We do our best to fulfill your exact order, but in the event of limited availability due to weather or market conditions, substitutions may be made. Any replacements will be of equal or greater value and chosen with care to preserve the look and feel of your original selection. While we will reach out when possible, substitutions may be made without prior contact to avoid shipping delays.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns. Remove your Amaranthus from the box and inspect each stem. Handle hanging amaranthus with care to avoid tangling or breaking its long, delicate tassels.  Notify us immediately if there are any problems.
  • Process Immediately: Begin conditioning your stems as soon as they arrive to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey. Again, don’t worry if they appear sleepy or thirsty—they will perk up beautifully with proper care.

 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Use Clean Buckets or Vases: Start with clean, sanitized containers free of soap residue, dirt, and bacteria.
  • Add Fresh Water: Fill each container at least half full with cool, fresh water. Flower food isn't necessary, but if you use it, follow the package instructions for proper dosing.  If you can't measure the water-to-food ratio properly, we recommend you do NOT use flower food.

3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Give Them a Gentle Shake: Before placing them in water, gently shake each stem to remove any loose leaves or natural debris.
  • Remove Foliage: Strip all leaves from the stems. The foliage yellows quickly, and removing it keeps the water cleaner and your arrangements looking fresh.
  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to have some airflow between stems.

 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: We recommend allowing your amaranthus to hydrate for 24 hours before you begin arranging.
  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.
  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.
  • Handle with Care: Hanging Amaranthus is naturally delicate. If held for extended periods out of water, the tassels can become limp ("droopy") and may shed slightly. Keep stems hydrated until you're ready to arrange them.

 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your Hanging Amaranthus is ready to use.
  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.
  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Petal Pointers:

  • Keep stems in water until the moment you're ready to arrange.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and warm temperatures to prolong freshness.
  • Hanging Amaranthus is naturally graceful and draping—allow the tassels to flow freely rather than forcing them upright.
  • Remove any yellowing leaves immediately to keep the water clean.
  • Expect a small amount of natural shedding, especially after shipping or extended handling.
